Some TV Shows To Binge Watch…You’re Welcome

With my exams getting over around a week ago, I’ve been doing my fair share of binge-watching these past few days.

Fun right?

Anyway, with that in mind, I now consider myself qualified to give good TV show suggestions to anyone with internet and free time.

TV SHOWS

1. BROOKLYN NINE – NINE

Yeah I know, mainstream much? But I couldn’t NOT include this show, it’s one of my all time favourites (you’re going to be hearing that a lot) and one of the few TV shows that actually make me laugh out loud.

It follows and immature (and genius) detective, Jake Peralta, who solves cases for the NYPD. With its comical characters and incredible humour, it’s hard not to love the show.

One thing I love about this show is the fact that it isn’t in continuity…at least, most of the time. It’s always fun to be able to pick up from any episode and just watch the show without having to know exactly what happened in previous episodes.

Noice.

2. SUITS

Again, super mainstream, but I only got around to watching it recently and I’m only on season 2. Of course, like that’s going to stop me from fangirling about it all the time.

The show is about a law firm called Pearson Hardman. Harvey Specter, expert closer, who almost always wins his cases, is somewhat a prodigy there. He hires a young man named Mike Ross as his associate…except Pearson Hardman only hires Harvard graduates, and Mike Ross isn’t one. Good thing he has photographic memory and remember pretty much everything he reads…but can that keep the firm from finding out his secret?

Now before you go ‘But it’s law…how boring’ I would like to say that it is extremely entertaining watching Harvey Specter and Mike Ross solve cases. For one there’s the intriguing part of them finding loopholes and using the law against the law, but apart from that there’s some real humour too. Witty humour. Now how can you not love that?

As the seasons progress, the plot keeps shifting, but still focuses on the central idea, enough to keep you watching and at the edge of your seat.

3. STRANGER THINGS

Okay you’ve probably heard, if not watched, this one.

The show focuses on strange things that keep happening in a small town in Indiana. It is set in 1993 and follows the story of four boys and their family as they discover that their town isn’t quite ordinary.

The supernatural element really keeps the show alive and the characters are quite relatable too.

4. COMMUNITY

Not exactly a very new show, but it’s still true gold.

It’s a comedy show about a group of people who are attending community college. With their contrasting and unusual personalities, they make for a quite entertaining set of people.

Truly one-of-a-kind, another personal favourite that can make you laugh whether or not you intend to.

5. THE BIG BANG THEORY

I know its been around for ages, but how can I not have included it?

It’s follows the lives of two awkward but intellectual physicists, Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, along with their friends. Their lives completely change when a carefree and pretty girl, Penny, moves into the apartment opposite theirs.

Sheldon Cooper’s extreme OCD and social awkwardness make for quite the comical experience. You won’t regret watching this one.

And then there’s the Indian boy, Raj, who can’t talk to girls unless he’s drunk.

^That’s him.

6. BLACK ADDER

This show released in the early 1980’s, but it has wormed its way into my all time favourites and stayed there for quite some time.

It is a British comedy about Edmund Blackadder, a British noble, with a cynical sense of humour. The jokes and one-liners never fail to make me cry tears of laughter and the witty humour never ceases to amaze me.

Rowan Atkinson’s portrayal of Blackadder could not have been better. His expressions and acting skills are what make the show what it is.

7. THE GOLDBERGS

Based on the actual life story of The Goldberg family (with some exaggerations), this show captures what living in a dysfunctional family is like, from the point of the youngest member of the family. With the helicopter mother, rebellious older sister, weird older brother, hot-tempered father and full-of-swagger grandfather, this show will help you relive your childhood…and all the stupid stuff you did during the time.

8. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

Much like F.R.I.E.N.D.S, this show is about an architect named Ted Mosby who, through lots of little stories, tells his two teenagers how he met their mother.

The characters in the show make for the perfect blend of comedy and drama. If you have the time to watch 9 seasons of this show, then go ahead. If you don’t, you can pretty much watch from anywhere…personally I love S7 the best.

9. BLACK-ISH

Another TV show about a weird family…what’s not to love?

A man tries to get his black family to mingle with his neighbours as they try to find their place in the society. The dysfunctional family always has something going on, the drama is real funny and gripping.

10. FRESH OFF THE BOAT

It is about the experiences of an immigrant Taiwanese family as they try to fit in with the Americans all around them.

The strong personalities of the characters make it extremely funny and great just to sit and enjoy while you relax.

BONUS

A few more TV shows that I’m too lazy to write about:

  1. Dr. Ken
  2. Monk
  3. Psych
  4. Mentalist
  5. Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life

ANOTHER BONUS (today must be your lucky day)

Song recommendation: Friends by Marshmello and Anne Marie…go listen to it! You may just love it.

Hope this helped you find something to get over your boredom.

XO

Myra
